“Lord, teach us how to pray,” Luke 11:1
This is what one of Jesus disciples ask of Him after He had finished praying; Jesus was always praying, in all things and this had to be a great impact on His disciples to see Him always in communion with God.
There is power in prayer and if we ever want to move God and have power through Jesus Christ, then we have to pray in all things, pray because this is how we gets God attention, this is how God talks to us through His written word and our prayer life.
So Jesus gave the disciples a prayer to model after, not one to pray word for word, but to show us how to and what to pray for; to pray for others, by saying “Our Father” and giving Him reverence without using all kind of title, if we are His children then we should recognized Him as any faithful child would.
Paul, also say that we should always pray and never cease, he knew the important of prayer; even when they were stoning Steven, he prayed to God and found peace and saw heaven opened up to him. The fervent prayer of a righteousness man availeth much, pray without ceasing, pray with all prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving and make your request know unto God.
Jesus prayed all through His Ministry, even on the cross for those that cried, crucify Him; there is power, deliverance, hope, peace, joy and much, much more, when we pray. If we want to imitate something then we should be imitating the life of Jesus Christ, and other that prayed to God daily. Pray, and when all else fail, pray, with all honesty drawing our strength from the Holy Spirit that will give us utterance.
